Mr. Gochenour

Tom Gochenour – Assistant Principal and Athletic Director

Jackson High School 2021- Present

Mr. Gochenour has been an educator for 34 years and is currently an Assistant Principal and Athletic Director here at Jackson High School.

Originally from Virginia, Mr. Gochenour attended Ferrum Junior College in Virginia, then transferred to Carson-Newman College in Tennessee, playing football as an offensive lineman. While at Carson-Newman, Gochenour played on the 1986 NAIA I National Championship Team and earned All-America Honorable Mention. He graduated in 1988 with a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and Health. Master’s Degree in 1992 from NCA&T University, then in 2013 received his Specialist Degree from LMU.

Gochenour moved to Georgia in 1999 and taught and coached at Fayette County High School for three years. He went to East Coweta High School and taught and coached there from 2002 to 2017, then moved into a Coweta County middle school as an assistant principal for four years. 

Mr. Gochenour and his wife, Tara of 28 years have three children, T.J. (26), Charlie (23), and Jack (23).

My name is Theresa Lubin. I have been in education for 24 years. I am a graduate of Albany State University and Georgia College and State University. I am a proud assistant principal at Jackson High School serving the Ninth Grade Academy. I have been married for 22 years to Rudy; together we have three beautiful girls, Hannah, Allyson and Kyndall. My interests/hobbies include drag racing and cake baking.

Hello family!

It’s your home girl, Dr. Sohmer McKibben, native of Butts County and graduate of Jackson High School. It is a privilege to serve as
CTAE Director for Butts County Schools. I have been employed by the Butts County School System for
27 years, and let me say that there is no place like home. I have and will continue to take the education of my family and friends very seriously. I
believe that every child should be provided an opportunity to work to his or her potential, every day. The level of commitment from a talented staff
motivated students, involved parents, and a supportive community helps make Jackson High School the school what it is!
Let us work together to be better than before. A key to a successful year is having an open line of communication between all stakeholders.

  • Jackson High School Football Honors: In 1995, I was selected to the All-State football team and played in the North v. South All-Star game for the South team.

  • Graduated from Jackson High School in 1995 and earned a full athletic scholarship to play football at The Citadel in 1995. 

  • The Citadel Football Statistics: Four Year Starter, First Team Southern All conference, Team captain and defensive player of the year 

  • Graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Business in 1999

  • Free agent draft for the Jacksonville Jaguars in 1999

  • Played 7 years in Arena Football: 3 years for The Carolina Cobras, 1 year for The Detroit Fury, and 3 years for The Georgia Force.

Mr. Scandrett

Calvin L. Scandrett – Dean of Students/Athletics

 Jackson High School 2022- Present

Mr. Scandrett has been an educator for 34 years and is currently the
Dean of Students and Athletics here at Jackson High School.
From Forsyth, GA, Mr. Scandrett graduated from Mary Persons High
School. He attended the University of West Georgia. At West Georgia,
he played football. He earned a Master’s degree from the University of
Scranton. Mr. Scandrett started his teaching career at Lamar County High School.
He worked in Lamar County (25 years), Macon County (3 years), Butts
County (4 years), and Crawford County (2 years). He retired at the end
of May in 2020. He currently is working part-time in the Butts County
School System. Mr. Scandrett is married to Dr. Andrea Scandrett. They have been
married for 33 years and have two children, Tyler (28) and Madisyn
(22).
