What is FFA?

FFA is a dynamic youth organization within agricultural education that changes lives and prepares students for premier leadership, personal growth and career success.

Who is FFA for?

Full FFA Membership is open to those students who are enrolled in an agriculture education course at Jackson High School this year.  Qualifying courses are:   Basic Agriculture, Horticulture and Plant Sci., Nursery and Landscape, and Animal Science.  Agricultural Science is a prerequisite for all other courses.   Full Members can participate in all FFA activities including field trips, chapter meetings and are eligible to participate in competitions earning recognition through our FFA chapter.

Why is there a fee for Agriculture Education Classes?

As of April 2018, it is State Law in Georgia.  SB330 states that all students enrolled in an Agriculture Education class will be FFA members.  This is meant to protect the integrity of the 3-Component Model (Classroom/Lab instruction, SAE, and FFA).

What does it cost?

FFA membership dues are $10.  This pays local chapter, region, state and national dues for each member.  Checks are to be made payable to JHS FFA.

Additional activities will be charged per event.  If a member is unable to financially pay, they should see an advisor for information on fundraiser opportunities.

How do you join?

Being a student in the agriculture education course provides you with membership to the National FFA Organization.
