Family Literacy Program
The Family Literacy Program is designed to serve parents and their children, ages birth to give, in the Butts County School District. Services are provided at no cost at all to interested families. Parent Educators work with families to develop personal literacy goals, provide resources, and help ensure a successful transition to kindergarten.
Our Vision
All children in Butts County will enter kindergarten prepared and ready to learn. All parents deserve access to parenting support. Parent educators work with families to develop personal literacy goals, provide resources, and help ensure a successful transition to kindergarten.
Program Implementation
The Family Literacy Program is implemented through personal visits, screenings, and group meetings.
- Personal Visits: A parent educator, specially trained in child development, will meet with your family individually to give your child a head start.
- Screenings: Developmental screenings offer parents a quick and effective way to look at how their child is learning and growing in the areas of health, vision, hearing, communication, physical development, problem solving, and social/emotional development.
- Group Meetings: Group meetings offer parents an opportunity to join with other families as you discover more about your child's development. Sessions include playgroups, workshops, family activities, and other topics of interest.
